Federica Marangoni, veneziana attiva internazionalmente, pioniera negli anni ’60 ’70 della ricerca nei cosiddetti nuovi materiali, materie plastiche, neon e video che hanno segnato l’espressione artistica delle generazioni dopo Duchamp, esprime attraverso le sue simbologie primarie, un’analisi profonda della vita e della morte con la quale l’uomo deve sempre confrontarsi; vedi ciclo delle performances con le cere e la torcia, culminato con un invito al Moma di New York nel 1980 e alla Biennale di Venezia, sempre nello stesso anno, dove presenta l’installazione video “ La vita è tempo e memoria del Tempo”, 2 CH Video su VHS, corpo in cera elettrificato, autoritratto gigante in serigrafia su plexiglass.

Il supporto tecnologico rappresenta nel lavoro di FM, la terza dimensione che è stata resa possibile all’Arte del nostro tempo, il movimento, la vitalità e l’emozionalità della società contemporanea.

Vetro grezzo per la fusione, o lavorato, specchio o lastra industriale, accoppiato con arte, al neon o ad uno schermo TV, con la sua fredda luce tecnologica e illusoria mobilità delle immagini, sono la perfetta metafora del pensiero dell’artista: concettualità e antimonumentalità, l’effimero della luce e della trasparenza che sono significato di libertà. “ La luce è sempre libera”, titolo dell’opera pubblica del 2004 a S.Cruz de Tenerife, Spagna.

Professore aggiunto alla New York University Art Departement dal 1976 al 1990, ha tenuto lectures in molte università degli Stati Uniti dove ha lavorato con importanti gallerie e Istituti e recentemente installato l’opera pubblica “ The Tree of Life”, al 211 E 70th st alla 3° Avenue.

From 1976 to 1990, she was a visiting professor at the Department of Art and Artistic Education at New York University, NY. She has led lessons, lectures and seminars in many other universities and cultural centres in the USA, where she worked with various Galeries and Art Institutions , recently she has installed a Public Work “ The Tree of Life”, at 211 E 70th st at 3rd Avenue.
